Winter School Uniform

This is the first Anime cosplay I did. It's made from a long sleeve black shirt over a long sleeve turtleneck, with a white cheerleading skirt. I found all the peices at a local thrift store and put them together. I added the collar to the long sleeved shirt and put the red trim on it. It took forever to figure out a good pattern for the collar. I added the cuffs to the sleeves. They are safety pinned at the moment 'cause I need to redo them and make them a bit bigger, not to mention the hand guards rubbed on them and turned them pink. The school emblem, on the left shoulder, is just drawn on a scrap of interfacing with colored pencils. I plan to embroider it on one of these days. The backpack I found somewhere and couldn't believe how well it matched. I still have issues with shortening the straps to make it sit right on me. The Key of Clow, around my neck, was made from sculpy and was the first thing I ever made with the stuff. It took me forever to find what color the string was but eventually learned it was brown. I just used brown ribbon. The wig is the first wig I ever styled. It's the perfect color as it falls in the middle of the color spectrum for her hair. (anywhere from honey/light brown to dark brown. Some pics even show a bit of red). I purchased a shoulder length auborn wig and cut it short, making sure I kept the two long peices on either side of her head. The peices that frame the face were tricky but with a little teasing, mega hold gel, and hair spray, I was able to make them stay. The "antenna" peices, on top of her head, were made by taking a section of hair and putting a clear rubber band at the base of it. I divided it in half and sprayed the heck out of it. It was tricky to get the pony tails, but with a little bit of work I was able to pull them up and not show any holes. (nothing was added in the way of wefts 'cause I hadn't even heard of them yet) I couldn't find her clasic ponytail holders in red so I just got a black pair and painted them red. I'm quite pleased with how it turned out. The rollerblades I found on sale at Target and wasn't sure I wanted to permanently paint them, so I put clear tape on them and painted over that. Eventually I got another pair and painted them for real. I need to re-paint them as the paint flakes off a bit. I also found the safety gear real cheep and got a set which I proceeded to paint in the hotel room. Sadly I got the pink too dark and it kinda looks like salmon pink. I even taught myself the basics of rollerblading (minus the stopping part so I fail) so, I could look cool in the parking lot of the hotel. I completed the look with a Kero-chan plushie sticking out of my bag. All in all I'm really happy with it and have worn it several times since.
