With the costume showcase, I just wanted to say thanks to all the various photographers who took the time to take pictures and post process this costume. Its hard to display an outfit without someone to take the time to capture it.
Most of the cosplay was made by adhering Vinyl and Craft Foam together with 3m Super 77 Spray adhesive. The little razer looking pieces and fake fasteners were crafted using craft foam and either nail polish, or acrylic paint to paint them. Most of the leg pieces are held in place using silver acrylic fabric painted elastic bands, and the shoulders, chest plates, fingers, and some of the layered upper body armor are held in place using snaps.
The razers on the gauntlets were made by layering wonderflex, and the shoulder razers were made using wonderflex to hold craft foam pieces in place.
4 yards of gunmetal matte vinyl, 2 yards of black matte vinyl, 1 yard of gold pvc, and 1 yard of silver pvc were used to construct the armor, along with 30 sqft of craft foam (2 rolls). The shapes in the armor were created by sandwiching pieces of craft foam, base layer, decorative center layer, and a top layer, which the vinyl was stretched over.
The headgear was actually build off a zentai mask, by cutting a face hole for the front. The pieces on the headgear are mostly made using craft foam, vinyl, and wonderflex trimmings, which the wonderflex was painted using gunmetal colored nailpolish.
The Chobits ears are actually oggz, which was cut in half and the LED inside was removed. Then wonderflex/vinyl was adhered onto it, and the top section was painted rust, and the bottom painted silver.
The jawpiece which is wonderflex, its actually created by making 12 teeth looking pieces, adhering them to a jaw+root+gumline like looking piece, then adhering that to the jaw piece, which was cut to look like it had a gum line. This gave it a gumline, and kind of made it look like the jaw had roots. This was painted using the gunmetal nail polish too.
The shoes are actually kung fu shoes that i stitched vinyl over, then added toe armor looking wonderflex/vinyl to. And on the heel i also placed a wonderflex/vinyl strip along the back that has a studded look to it.
