Pilot outfit from first scene of the movie
Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones

I saw this outfit and imidiatly loved it. It's not very well known (Padme' is only seen in it for like 5 minutes maybe) but many people who reconized it loved it. I made it for the costume contest but wore it around all day and had fun in it. Many people asked for pictures and alot of the dealers in the dealers room made me stop so they could get pics. LOL I stopped as much traffic in the dealers room as the slave Leia's did outside. ;) I even had one 14 year old beg me to stay put untill he could find his mom with their camera. It was a lot of fun and sadly the only draw back is the helmet being a little hot.
The wig was purchased then seperated into different sections. I originaly was going to string beads on the hair but I couldn't get the holes on the beads big enough. Instead I wrapped the hair with dental floss then wrapped tin foil over the floss to make the silver beads. I took a sharpie and drew little designs on them to look like the beads I had purchased.
The helmet is a paint ball mask I covered in stretch pleather to cover the head. I used crayola air drying clay to cover the vents on the face part and make it look more like the helmet. i then painted the helmet to match the pleather. I found two bolt caps at a local harware store and used them for the bolts on the side of the face part. The silver and black peices on the side of the helmet were made using the crayola clay (wanted to keep it lightweight) and were then glued to the helmet. The silver beads I strung together then glued along the seam lines. the only sad thing about it is it does get hot quite easily. Most of the time I just carried it around and only put it on for pics. The lenses fog up easily as well. I did wear it for our local St. Patricks Day parade and as long as I was moving I was fine. When I stopped it got hot inside. This is mainly why I havn't worn it in awhile.
The top consists of a reddish brown, longsleeved shirt, a black turtleneck dickie, and a dark brown pleather vest. Yes it's supposed to be a vest, but I didn't get a chance to cut off the sleeves and they wouldn't stay tucked under. The belt is a heavier dark brown leather with a belt buckle I hand carved out of sculpy and painted with a antiqued gold paint. I sewed it to the belt and the belt is fastened with velcro.
The gauntlets were made out of a heavy leather and hand sewn in the car on the way to Indianna. ;) The gloves are store bought leather gloves.
The pants are a reddish brown cotton and the first pants I have ever made. I added elastic to the legs to keep them from blousing over the tops of my boots.
The boots were an amazing find and I got them almost dirt cheep. I used some of the scrap pleather to make the straps which are hand sewn and gold buckles were then added.
Despite the helmet issues I had a lot of fun in this costume and will probably drag it out of moth balls at some point to get better pics of it or to just wear around another con.
