Finally this is my Chun Li costume!!
I've been wanting to do Chun Li for years, but never got the chance to be in a group till now!!
I want to thank my partners for this great group we did and for allowing me to be their Chun Li. I had a great time with them all!! :D Thank you!!
The costume was made in 15 days, I worked in it in the afternoons as I don't have much time due to my job.
I bought 1`50m of blue material (silk imitation) and brainstormed the qui-pao dress by myself. It has two zippers, one at the back and one at the side.
The neck has foam inside to keep the shape.
The hardest part were the sleeves, I didn't know how to make them and I didn'd have a pattern, so I made a normal sleeve 3 times bigger and stuffed newspaper balls inside to keep the puff.
The gold parts were sewed on very patiently... U.u hard job... The obi was a white cotton material on which I drew a blue dragon and curved lines just like some artbook images I found of her.
For the boots, I bought a pair of white plain boots and a cheap store for 10!! and then I cut them and put the white cords to make them look like boxing boots.
The odangos were made from white circle cotton material and ruffled rectangles, with gold material sewn. Then 4 laces were sewn on them. To help them stay on I put an elastic band sewn on the inside.
I didn't use a wig because I have very long brown hair with bangs just like her so I only had to style my hair into 2 ponytails and curl them around like odangos, secured with bobby pins.
The wirst bands were hard to brainstorm but finally I came up with the idea of painting 2 big painters tape black and them glued 8 white cardboard cones on them.
I hope you like the costume as much as I do. ^.^
