Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle

This costume was quite a big project. The shirt took many tries to drape correctly. The skirt is a giant circle skirt, cut open in the front, with a single seam down the back. All of the applique is hand sewn on and then satin stitched over the top. Nothing was glued or painted on. Everything is fully lined in white broadcloth, save for the harem pants underneath which are barely seen, anyway. The piping was one of the most time consuming parts. I think there are like 30 yards of piping here! It was all handmade with a gold metallic spandex fabric and piping filler. The skirt yoke is just extra thick piping filler. The headdress and shoes were formed from Fosshape and covered in the fabric after detailing. All 40+ gems were cast from clear epoxy resin and attach with velcro. The settings were sculpted from Paperclay. The bracelet bangles were easily thrifted and painted. The ankle bangle and choker however, did not come so easily, and were made from vinyl tubing. Over 100 "coins" were hand sewn onto the outfit. The larger ones are made from EVA foam that I coated with Mod Podge, sanded, and painted with Rub 'n Buff. (This does not add weight to the already heavy skirt.) The smaller "coins" were wood circles that I had to also paint and drill a hole through. The wig began as a New Look Bob that I wefted for the long strands and the antennae. The antennae are styled with hair glue and hair spray, and the bangs are made "piecey" with pomade.
