This project was a bit of a doozy. It was sort of last minute planned to premier it at Otakon, and the construction slightly suffered due to it being rushed.

The wig: I searched all over ebay for a green clip-on pigtail wig, but alas had no luck. I came across a tutorial here on cos.com for a home-made clip on wig. I followed the tutorial by buying pre-wefted extensions along with a base wig. I stitched on several rows of the extensions on top of each other on a piece of slitted felt matching the color of the extensions. I placed the side sections of the felt onto the claw clip and hot-glued them into place. I scrunched up the top of the rectangle and glued it into place. This is probably the most successful part of the costume.

The dress: UGH. I'm doing a lot of budgeting, so this dress was made from a lot of scrap material. Unfortunately, I had what turned out to be this HORRIBLE stretch black jersey that would not cooperate. It was a real challenge. The appliques are not the greatest since they were rushed, so I hope to salvage them in some way. The fit needs to be adjusted, and the hem on the white section needs work. And I need to finish all my raw edges. They don't fray, but they do not look clean. The dress, which is unfortunately the bulk of the costume, needs the most work.

The gloves: THESE were such a challenge! I had to find the right method, and while I hoped to avoid painting, it turned out to be the best thing for these gloves. I used painter tape to proximate where the lines should lead, and free-handed any curved edges. I put down white paint first, and then green over top. The gloves were actually very successful.

The shoes: I desperately need to re-do these. I didn't even get a green stripe on them. I'm re-doing these with a more opaque stocking over top a base shoe and adding a stripe.

I hope to re-premiere this costume with a much better and more complete look. It was a stretch of a challenge and I'm happy I went through with it. In the end, it's all about how much you improve rather than the end result.
