My first cosplay, originally worn to Manifest 2010.
Inspiration came from a hoop skirt that I made, and I asked on these forums about characters with large, poofy skirts that I could cosplay as. One user sent me a picture of C.C. and Euphemia from the Clamp! Artbook and I thought: "I have to make that dress!"
This cosplay was originally supposed to debut in 2009, but I didn't finish it in time for the con. I still wish I hadn't rushed it, but I think it was a good effort for my first cosplay. Don't think I'll be trying to modify this anymore, as it's unlikely I'll be wearing it again.
I started making the dress in December 2009. It originally had shorter sleeves, and didn't have the ruffle on the bottom of the skirt. The hoop was really heavy, so I decided not to wear it. The bulk part of this dress was sewn in three days from a mixture of self-drafted patterns and different parts from sewing patterns. Fabric is black polyester satin.
Wig had to be restyled, the fringe wasn't full enough, so I cut and restyled the wig myself, as well as adding the black ribbon. Ideally it would have been fuller in the back, but it was a cheap wig. I also made the necklace from a clear glass bead and some ribbon.
Picked up the dress in July 2010 to modify it. The lacing is missing from the sleeves, and the ruffle on the bottom was added only to add length to the skirt so it would cover the new hoopskirt I bought. I finished off the neck and back seams with lace trim as well.
Ideally, I would have done the whole dress again, but people still recognised who I was cosplaying as, which was great!
Had to pick up the white plastic lilies for my props from a friend at the con, hence why I do not have them in the garden shots. The garden shots were taken with an DSLR camera in my backyard, and most of the con shots were taken by people with point-and-shoot cameras.
I know I forgot to iron my costume!! It's so wrinkly!
edit: Wore this again in 2011 to a Code Geass meet. Some photos from there too, with my second wig, which was better than the first.
If I ever cosplay C.C. again, I will be getting a nicer wig - I've gone through two cheap wigs so far. I will probably remake the whole dress as well.
