Castlevania Sympony of the Night

Dress is made out of non stretch velvet, it was easier to work with (I still interfaced both the velvet and the taffeta lining in the bodice) than stretch velvet and I like the over all appearance more.

The pattern was from a horrible 80's prom dress to get both the dip in the neck (of which mine is not entirely accurate) as well as the huge mutton-like sleeves. The sleeves have gathered tulle at the shoulders to help the puff stand out as well as an elastic band where the puff part of the sleeve meets the straight sleeve to keep the sleeve from sliding around and de-puffing.

The white trim is double fold bias tape with edges properly mitered. The headdress is a nightmare. In the SotN manga, her veil appears to have a floral print all over along with scalloped edges at the bottom. So, I bought the fabric, attached it to a headband, glued a comb into the headband so it would stay low on my head without slipping, and wound a bunch of quasi gathered black ribbon through my hair.
