This was lunaladyoflight's idea. She wanted to do the alternate priestess Miaka and wanted me to do Yui with her. Since I'd been wanting to do Yui anyway, I thought it would be fun and cute to do these!
The wig is a wig I had in my orphan box that I trimmed and styled into being Yui. The blue headdress thing is peltex covered with dark blue crepe and encrusted with pearls. The purple tails are the crepe side of crepe back satin, the blue balls are Christmas ornaments I painted with Testors model paint, and the tassels are wig hair I dyed into a gradient with Sharpie dye. I had originally made the tassels out of embroidery floss, but that didn't work out so well, haha. Anyway, I used two different shades of blue Sharpie dye, then I combed it until the color was nice and blended.
The dragon ears are made of two different shades of gold palette sequins, foamies, and cardboard, and are attached to a headband. I cut out the ear shape with cardboard, hand-glued each and every sequin to the base, then made the detailing with some foamies and hand painted it.
The coral horns were hand-sculpted from Fimo, hand painted, then glossed and pearls added; also attached to a headband.
The jester-looking collar is dark blue crepe and orange and yellow satin, stain stitched onto the base. It opens and closes via a zipper in the back. The blue under-ruffle collar is light blue crepe with lighter blue bias tape, hand gathered.
The white dress is a simple cotton spandex dress I patterned from scratch. The sleeves are each made of 2 yards of yellow chiffon, hand gathered down the arm, and tapered down the hem to make it pretty.
The bracelets and ankle band are a combination of foamies, more sequins, the same orange satin from the collar, and fully lined in felt to make it look nice. I don't know for sure if I'm wearing the bangles on the right sides or not, BUT OH WELLS. :P
Overall, this is a pretty comfortable costume and I enjoyed wearing it a lot more than I thought I would! I actually like the overall look and presentation of it. :)
