I was origianlly going to be cosplaying Simon last year, but things fell through in terms of time and budget. I was happy enough to get one version of Simon done for Anime North 2011!

It was super comfy for the Saturday that I wore it, not to mention very practical in the late afternoon weather. Also my first time dying fabric, which seemed to have turned out very well (though it turned my hands blue for a week thanks to faulty gloves before most of the dye had washed off).

CORE DRILL Ė Whatís Simon without his drill? This essential piece of the cosplay was also the first thing I got. I actually got it after buying the first DVD collectors set which came with Vol. 1 & 2 and a collectible box to hold all 6 volumes in. But whatís awesome is that itís made to scale and it has a built-in green LED light in it. (Thatís right, it f-ing GLOWS!) But naturally the batteries will run out if I leave it on, so if I did want to turn it on, Iíd do it at night.

WIG Ė Iíve been searching for a little bit for a nice wig that would be quite close to Simonís hairstyle and color. Thankfully, had a similar style in a Vocaloid Kaito wig in blue-black. (Also, free shipping! BONUS!) Hacked half of it off in my hotel room to give it that short, shaggy cut and styled the bangs with Got 2 B spiking glue.

-GOGGLES - Made from craft foam and painted with acrylic paint and varnish. Strapped velcro to the back to hold it in place.

-SHIRT - Bought a plain white buttoned shirt and dyed it turquoise. Heat and bonded all the triangles one at a time too. (I'm so proud!)

-BELT - Bought a Men's medium belt that was on sale at Winners .

-SHORTS - I ran out of time to make the shorts, so my stepmom was nice enough to lend me a pair of hers to cart around for the weekend.

-Sandals - Bought at Michaels for $5.

TOTAL: $60 (CAD.)
