The March Hare

Last Updated: 03-09-2011

I needed a costume for waitressing at an art party, and my friend and I went as the Dormouse and the March Hare from the book "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland".
The costume is partly hand made and partly altered. The waistcoat was made from scratch out of curtain material, with sturdier material for lining. The shirt is altered from an old school shirt: it is designed to be off the shoulder. The photo doesn't show this clearly but it is covered in Tenniel's illustrations from the book, which I transferred on to the shirt using a Dylon product. The cravatte is handmade, as are the ears (thank you, Threadbanger). The trousers were spray painted (no one can avoid a Tim Burton influence forever!)

UPDATE: This costume has mostly been recycled. The shirt will be turned into appliqués, the waist coat is now a cushion, and I am thinking about dying the trousers red and adding some gold buttons for a circus theme :)
