Oh where to begin...
This costume was so detailed, and I'm still adding on tiny things here and there, but I'm still saying it's 100% complete. I started this costume in June '10 and finished the morning of March 11th, the convention day! Then I ended up still fixing things when I reached the hotel. Now here comes the details.
Wig: I ordered it off of Ebay, then stood over a boiling pot of water for 3 hours while the longer parts of the wig were braided. Now it has the crimped feel. :] 3 hours
Jacket: I made my own pattern according to my body type, which is extremely skinny. It is made out of vinyl scraps found at Hancock's, and lined with tan cotton, the same material for the pockets on the outside. The buckles near the pauldron are made out of sculpy. The buckles on the pockets are actual buckle clasps and then glued down so they won't fall off. The half-cross type clasps on the front of the jacket are made out of sculpy, hot glue dots, and vinyl. 10+ hours
Belt: Made my own pattern out of paper, then played around with the vinyl and velcro until I got it right. Bought a belt buckle and chopped off the inner poky thing that goes into belt holes. xD 4+ hours
Pauldron: Made entirely out of sculpy. There is no football pad under there or anything. It's all beautifully done clay. The details I relieved using a paper pattern I had made perviously, and it took forever, since it was my first time. The yellow parts are 3-D fabric paint. 15+ hours
Shirt: Bought at Goodwill, then I chopped off the sleeves and lower half, then inserted a zipper. 1 hour
Skirt: Bought a knee length skirt, chopped off most of it, put in a hidden zipper, hook and eye, and the two visible zippers. 2 hours
Booty Shorts: Used old biking shorts, dyed them black, sewed them up to barely cover my butt, then put in the drawstring in the front. 1 hour
Leg bag: Oh lord. That...was intense. I made it all from scratch. First, I made the pattern out of paper to make it in proportion to my leg, then added on sewing room so I wouldn't lose my proportions. The zippers are actually functional! 14+ hours.
Boots: I bought a basic ugly mustard colored shoe from Goodwill, then once again, made pattern pieces of the shoe out of paper. Transferred it over to the vinyl, then glued, sewed, and cried. They were probably one of the hardest things to make. 10+ hours.
Gloves/armbands/black thing: Gloves I bought from Ebay, then chopped off the fingers and the ends to shorten them. I made the bullet holders out of my old girl scout handbook, McDonald's straws, and poster board, then spray painted gold. Armbands were made out of belt vinyl and then I hand sewed on the details. Black arm warmer was part of my friend's old dress that I had altered for her, and I sewed it down to fit my arm. 2+ hours
Necklace: I made it out of sculpy. 2+ hours
