Classic design with "dark" Supergirl color scheme
Last Updated: 07-07-2011
I made my first Supergirl costume in two days, so I had no doubts I could do it again. The idea started when between moving to a new apartment, a business trip, and helping my friend with her own costume, I was left with no time for myself. I wanted to cosplay without competing so I could be comfortable. Originally the plan was to cosplay my DnD character, but it was more time consuming than I was able to deal with. I was wearing a pair of boots and realized, "Hey these would make great 'dark' Supergirl boots". However, I am not nearly as in shape as I was during my first costume and I knew a middriff would be a bad idea for all! hahah. However, I had most of the needed fabric on hand. So I decided to apply the "dark" Supergirl colors of black and silver to the classic design in my own little twist. It was fun, comfortable, and I still got to cosplay (not to mention that since I was blonde at the time I didn't need a wig)!
Bodysuit pattern and basically followed the skirt pattern it came with, to some degree. I found that the skirt wasn't full enough so I just kept adding more panels to it. I winged the cape and attached it under the collar of the shirt with snaps. I used a soft matte silver vinyl for both logos in a very patch like way, stitching over the edges before and during attachment to the fabrics. Bought a belt, ripped off the fancy buckle and put on a new one. DONE! =D
