Peasant Dress

Beauty and the Beast

Last Updated: 04-23-2011

My lovely and talented sister made the whole get-up. Of course I did a bit of sewing, but I'm still a noob so she didn't let me touch it much :]

The dress is basically two parts--the white shirt, and the blue dress is worn over it--plus the apron. Took forever to put together only because my sister and I have been busy people the past few months :] We had to safety pin the hell out of the sleeves and the straps on the blue part of the dress because there were so many "oopsies," sadly. The collar didn't turn out how Krista wanted; the blue fabric was a little hard to work with, I'm not sure exactly what kind it was; other than that it was comfy and fine to wear. I was in a constant fight with my hair though--I have bangs that I normally put in a side part, so forcing them to the middle was a challenge. They aren't long enough to fit behind my ears, so they kept blowing around in the wind too, sigh. I was so terribly self-conscious about that, so next time I'm either going to grow my hair out or slip on a wig :)

Overall though, I absolutely loved wearing Belle; she's one of my favorite Disney characters and it felt so wonderful to have people come up to me and tell me she's their favorite and ask for pictures.

I carried around a Harry Potter book and read it aloud to my Ariel at a fountain, and several people sat around and listened and made my day :) if you have photos of that moment, please share them with me ^^
