Fai and Sakura's costume both made by me! Phew!
This has been one of my dream cosplays for Sakura since I first got into TRC. CLAMP designs are one of the most beautiful and most impractical designs a cosplayer can attempt -- so I went for the more doable versions Sakura was. Both of these costumes were made in about a week (right before the con @__@ ), so while Sakura's is completed, Fai still has missing details that we had to skip out on for the sake of wearing these to Sakuracon. Both of us are missing our weapons, but we hope to have them ready and polished by the next con. :)
This is my first girly, ball-gown cosplay -- so I was both nervous and excited! I really love the petticoat I bought (~$15 on eBay!) and hope I can make more beautiful princess costumes in the future. :D!
Thank you so much to my friends who helped me finish this costume, I really wouldn't have been able to wear this without your guys' helping hands and words of encouragement and motivation!!
Separate piece from skirt. Made of bridal satin ($15/yd!!). Basically wrapped excess fabric around my torso, pinned, and cut.... Still boxy, so I need to take out the invisible zipper and put it on the bottom back instead of the top! Gold decorative buttons are handstitched to the front. No boning, self-lined.
Made of the same bridal satin. About 5-6yds? 7 panels cut from Simplicity's 2881 Pattern and then gathered by hand. Heat N Bond hemmed at the bottom, invisible zipper in the back.
Made of thin satin (?) with a heat N bond hem. Shoulder piece made of the wrong-side of satin, painted with gold acrylic and hemmed with gold bias tape.
Pattern design by me, cutout, hotglued, and painted/antiqued by Bubydub! Headpiece attached by an opened alligator clip.
Base from TopWigs (eBay) cut and styled by meeee.
