Young Justice

12.09.11: Updated a few things for Youmacon! I remade my cape out of a different fabric and so that it looks less janky, and I also found a different pair of boots to use as a base. Hooray!

HELLO, Megan! Goodness, it's been so long since I've had a series that I've been obsessed with enough to really get into the fandom. I've been writing fic and making AMVs for YJ, so of course I'm going to cosplay from it, too~!

I know half the fandom hates her, but M'gann has always been my favorite of the team. I adore her personality, how she always puts her friends first and does whatever she can to help them. I also love her quirks, like her catchphrase and the fact that she learned everything she knows about Earth from a sitcom. And she bakes! (It's one of my favorite hobbies so whenever a character does it, too, I instantly connect with them~.)

This was my first time making a superhero cosplay, and I have to say, it was a lot more challenging than I thought it would be. Everything was made from scratch, except for the gloves. I used a dancewear knit for the blue, and then a regular spandex/cotton knit for the red and white. The cape is made out of a high-quality satin - usually I don't like shiny fabrics, but I feel they work for Miss Martian, given that she's an alien and whatnot.

Before anyone asks, here is a tutorial I made on the body paint: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NySBYj9kE34 I use Kryolan Aquacolor for my face, PAX for my arms, and I dyed a pair of tights for my legs. (It was my first time using bodypaint to this extent and I'm really happy with how it turned out~!)

As always, if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask!
