Darker Than Black

I have no idea where to begin about this costume but I guess Hito and I got hooked to the DTB series and we decided to pair up for this cosplay (and not to mention I was "short enuf" to be her Yin LOL!)
Cosplaying Yin is a challenge for me cuz the characters I usually cosplay arent as passive as her and since she's so passive, her eye contact was of utmost importance...That worried me a bit cuz I cant wear contacts, so I cant have the impact I wanted >.<
For her costume, I sew it myself and I modified the dress' sewing pattern from my Klan dress...I added more panels at the sides cuz I wanted a full skirt ...It was a bad idea later on cuz I had problems wif its fitting and the dress actually made me look fatter than I really was @__@
For the bolero, I used the sewing pattern from Cosmode which i realised was of standard size...Meaning if ur shoulders are broader and arms longer than mine, the sewing pattern cant be used @__@ I had MAJOR problems wif the sewing pattern cuz of my lack of sewing skills as well as my inability to read Japanese >.<
In the end, I would rate my costume a DISASTER cuz both the dress and the bolero were ill-fitting *bangs wall* I find it surprising that the dress was ill-fitting cuz it was ok on me when i wore it to my colleague's wedding @__@
I am pretty upset by the outcome of Yin's costume that I decided to commission this costume altogether. Yes, u read it right...I seek professional help after realising that my abyssimal sewing skills werent enuf to salvage the costume @__@
For her wig, it was another drama cuz the initial wig I wanted had to be pre-ordered @__@ The supplier said since it consists of a base wig wif a ponytail extension, it will take a couple of months to be completed...
At that time, Hito and I aimed to debut this cosplay for an upcoming event and I cant afford to wait for a few months for the wig to be ready...So i bought a rather good wig from a local seller and it was indeed a good investment..
The wig i bought withstood the rough handling and styling to tie it into a ponytail LOL...Her wig reminded me why I hate cosplays with ponytails LOL....Kudos to Hito for styling the wig plus "helmetising" and I sew hooks into the wig to prevent it from sliding off my head...
I oledi have the black socks and the lolita shoes and reused them :) Her hair ribbon was bought from a haberdashery and I matched it to the colour of her dress...
I wasnt happy with my Yin cosplay during C2AGE cuz my makeup was cracking for unknown reasons and I had to change out of this cosplay fairly early...I still dunno what happened but it traumatised me :(
I hope I can have a redemption cosplay of her in future and do more justice to her.
