My Ginko (Mushi-shi) cosplay at Anime North 2011 was my first cosplaying attempt. Though Mushi-shi is set in 19th-century Japan, Ginko's wardrobe is anachronistically modern, which made it fairly easy and cheap to put together.

The backpack I made from cardboard and painted with acrylic craft paint to look like wood. Two second-hand leather belts (found at Value Village for $2 each) serve as the straps.

The shirt was a linen dress shirt I got from Winners. I removed the collar, shortened the sleeves, straightened the bottom, and replaced the buttons with more "rustic" looking ones I found at Fabricland.

The shoes - an almost perfect match to the character's, except that they're lace-up - I got from Value Village for $10.

The wig I bought from Cactus Mafia. I straightened, styled and cut it to look as close to the character's as I could.

The pants are just plain old denim jeans that seemed close enough to what you see in the show.

The cigarette is just rolled-up packing paper that I sealed with glue and singed the edge of with a BBQ lighter.
