White Swan

Black Swan

Pretty much an impromptu costume brought on by a friends request to go along with her black swan for our high school's drama banquet. The theme this years was movies, so they were inspired by the latest costumes worn by Natalie Portman.

All of the base pieces were bought in one mall trip several days before the event and then heavily modded with materials from Micheals!
The top began as a cheap white bustier with the lace ruffles down the center front. I arranged and then hand sewed all of the larger black and clear gems on the sides. The smaller gems and pearls were attached with hot glue until I was happy with the design. The feathers at the neckline were cut from a cheap feather boa and hot glued to the top edge of the bustier.

The skirt consists of a white petti from a costume shop under a white tutu skirt borrowed from Kokoro-h. The hip feathers are large turkey quills from Micheals layered with small wedding pearl bouquets and more feathers from the feather boa. I hot glued these to the underside of the bustier to keep them in place.

The hair clips were bought from Icing (cheap fashion jewelry store) and started as two elastic hairbands with large, gross rhinestone diamonds on the bottom edge. I ripped off the rhinestones, removed the feather shape from the headband and hot glued on my own design with flat backed black and white pearls and crystals.

Make up was fun.
