I actually got the fabric for this by mistake; I picked out a few yards of off-white satin and pale yellow overlay for another project and decided the colors weren't working. However, I realized they would be perfect for Rinoa's ballroom dress, so when I got some free time over winter break, I put this together.
The dress was pretty simple to make and came together really quickly. I used an old prom dress as a pattern to make the base dress out of satin, and then sewed the overlay onto the top hem of the dress and together at the sides. Then I sewed the ribbon over the top hem and attached the halter around my neck with velcro. I already had a pair of pale yellow pumps that went with a dress I had once owned, so I simply attached ribbon to them to match Rinoa's design, added my necklace and wig and was set to go!
The dress is very comfortable, and I love how it hangs. It cut slightly lower on the sides than I originally planned which makes for nice lines, although I have to use ddouble sided tape to keep it in place. ^^;; This fabric was the best cloth buying mistake ever.
