Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes
Last Updated: 06-19-2011
Estimated time: I lost count after redoing the back for a third time, so we’ll say over 100 hours.
Materials: Spandex, jersey/spandex blend, pleather, card stock, craft foam, low density foam, paper maché, foam board, and Velcro.
Ok. This one was a pain in the butt. One of those costumes that I wanted to give up on, but my stubbornness would not allow for it. Even after redoing the chest of the suit 5 times, the back 3 times, and the color blocking on the legs at least a dozen times.
Oh and the experimenting with using stretch pleather for all of the red pieces of the outfit. That was fun too. I love and hate this costume. lol
This is one of the first female characters in a fighting game that I fully enjoyed her style. Such a shame that she was only an Assist character in the first Marvel vs. Capcom. Obscurity is thy name! But I’ve always really liked her design and wanted to make a living version of it. And here it is.
The gun was made by my b/f from foam bard. I assembled the pieces and did final paint coating.
Arm bands were made of card stock, wrapped in pleather and finished with craft foam. Wrist guards are craft foam. Hip, chest, and ankle details are pleather stuffed with foam. Circle chest piece and back-plugs are foam wrapped in white spandex and painted.
Helmet started as paper-maché around a balloon, built up with foam, pleather highlights, and a thin plastic sheet for the visor.
Boot covers are jersey and pleather. Wig cut and highlighted by me. Costume creation not meant for the faint of heart.
Since the convention: need to fix the fastening system on the arm bands. Going to remake the breast plates. Otherwise, I'm happy with the final result. Apologies to everyone for not knowing how to hold a gun. It was very large and totally awkward to carry around. Free cookies to those who actually know the character! XD
