Haruko

Planning to enter AFO's costume contest as Haruko. One of few anime characters I'd like to cosplay. I will update this more as I obtain/build new pieces. *Wheee! I won 2nd place in the intermediate division!* So Happy!
--------------------------------------------------

Vest: I purchased Simplicity 2341 and plan to add a few mods. (lenght, sleeves, tall collar) I chose this pattern because of the built in pockets to keep my phone and cash. :3 I went with a semi shine cotton because vinyl is going to be super hot in FL. And you can completely see the outline of my phone in my pocket. :\ harumph

Goggles: Obtained on eBay. Search for Vespa Goggles. It will give you a good selection.

Bracelet: Made 100% of craft foam. Heated to get the shape then hot glued the ends together. I used a thicker craft foam for the base than I did for the strips so it's really solid. I must say Mod Podge and spray paint do wonders. I used a glue called Beacons 3-1 craft glue to assemble it together. It soaked through the foam and gave me a horrid texture on my once smoothly spray painted surface. Sigh.

Boots: Bought them in the middle of summer which happens to be the off season :\ So there weren't many choices. I vowed not to buy gogo boots. I ended up finding a Chinese whole sale site and purchased them there. The shipping price was atrocious. Got them in the mail and they didn't fit. The shoe size was great but the cylinder on the boot would only fit a petite woman. Oh Sadness. I decided to sew in an additional panel into my boots so that they will fit. Bought nice matching upholstery vinyl. Also extended them upwards. Added the top band piece for accuracy. I love these boots now! The silver circle detail is a nice touch if I do say so myself...* happiness* :D

Gloves: Purchased a pale yellow pair on ebay and then hand dyed them darker. I mixed tan and yellow rit dye and I'm quite happy with the outcome.

Shirt, Tights: All purchased on eBay. I am putting this together in the summer, it has been really difficult to find winter wear.

Scarf: Bought felt and cut out a scarf. I felt it was the best option. Its summer and I can't find a good scarf.

Contacts: Angelic Yellow ordered through http://www.cosmetic-lens.com/ All lenses on this site are FDA approved and you can get prescription lenses. Haruko just isn't complete without the crazy yellow eyes :)

Guitar: Commissioned by a friend. He found the actual Rickenbacker, took its measurements, flipped it, and started building it out of wood and misc. guitar parts. I'm not happy with the finish on this prop. I'm going to take it to someone else to give it a face lift. hehe

Wig: Using my Pokemon Pink wig because I think its suitable. It was a Gummi wig that I cut shorter.

EEEEE! I was featured in Beat Down Boogie's Dragon*Con 2011 video!! 2:30 in! *heck yeah*
