Kairi (Queen)

Queen (original)

Kingdom Hearts II

I'm sorry ;; I love Kairi... I love original designs...this is what happens when I put the two together. ^^;
I made an upgrade from Princess of heart to Queen. The idea randomly came about with my friend Court. We were sitting down trying to come up with new original designs to make, and he wanted to make a Knight/King version upgrade of his Prince. So, I thought of this too.
The bottle i'm holding is a prop inspired from KH2 when Kairi sends off a message in a bottle out to sea for Sora to receive. There's an actual message inside I wrote for Sora. TuT; filled with sparkles...

About the costume:
-15 yards of taffeta fabric
The dress is very heavy. There's about 4 layers all gathered. The top layer has small hearts that gradually get bigger when you get to the next layer, and then the final layer. Each heart and it's outline took me forever to cut out and face. I also hand-sew hundreds of sequins on every layer except the last. Each layer took me about 3-4 hours of hand-sewing sequins, and another 3-4 hours of hand-cutting and piecing all of the hearts.
I originally used taffeta to burn the edges to keep from fraying, but I ended up not doing that. I serged every edge on every petal instead.

-The armor pieces and crown were made with caution (They are cut outs I made on graph paper first then traced onto foamies. I then sealed them with thick coat of elmers glue and spray painted with metalic gold.

I made the dress high waisted to give more volume to the hips, but I don't know if that really looked good or not. I really don't experiment much with high waist. @_@

Decorating the bodice was the most fun part for me!
