I was asked to be in a Gurren Lagann cosplay group, and I chose to be Yoko. I had never watched the series before, but then watched it before starting on the cosplay, so I was very happy that Yoko turned out to be my favorite character anyway. =)
This cosplay was a lot of work, I made everything except the belt and chopsticks, I plan to make a new belt though, since the one I used is not accurate. The chopsticks were bought at Daiso Japan.
The wig was bought from FashionGarden3000 on eBay, it's a decent wig, super heavy though. I did have some issues with it tangling during the con, but I hope that those will be resolved once I get ahold of some silicone spray. I managed to keep it alive by brushing it with a wide-toothed comb when I could.
The bikini is dance/swim fabric from JoAnn's and the flames are iron-on vinyl from specialty-graphics.com. The beads on the back (which I currently have no pictures of) were also from JoAnn's, I believe. The shorts are the same fabric as the bikini top.
The jacket is faux leather from fabric.com, lined with some kind of cheap satin that I had laying around. The flames and logo on the back (no photos of the logo yet) are also iron-on vinyl. My favorite part? The hidden pocket on the inside of my jacket that I made for my phone!
The boot covers are faux-leather from JoAnn's home decor section with, of course, more iron-on vinyl. They are not lined, a decision that I only somewhat regret. (Faux leather is just as hot to wear as real leather, apparently.) The "zipper" on the boot covers is pleather from JoAnn's.
The boot covers need some work, one is too tight, and the "zippers" on both occasionally fell apart because they were held together with hot glue (bad idea). I would like to make the belt out of the same material as the boots, I just ran out of time before this particular convention.
