Belle

Ballgown

Beauty and the Beast

Last Updated: 07-14-2011

I made this dress a couple years back, I actually started working on it when my dad was going in for a minor surgery. So the way I decided to channel the stress from that was to make a crazy ballgown. Alot of my friends and family know that I make some of my more complex costumes during times of stress, and by making these complex outfits seems to be a way of relieving the stress oddly enough.
The dress was made in the course of 3 days.
The top is made from a butter yellow crepe back satin, it is lined, and has a boning foundation in it.
The bottom part of the dress is a lighter yellow bridal satin with a yellow organza overlay. The drapes are made of the same yellow satin as the top.
The petticoat in the dress, is one I made, plus one that is built into the dress as well, so there are 2 petticoats. I did make a hoopskirt that can be worn with this as well, but getting around with a hoopskirt has proven to be quite difficult.
The pearls on the dress are glass pearls all hand sewn on.
I made a little matching purse to go with the dress as well, made from remaning fabic from the dress.
The gloves were an old pair I had, that I fabric dyed yellow.
The wig (Linda XL) is the same wig I used for Diao Chan DW7, and styled the bun in the back with a yellow ribbon around it.
I really like how the dress turned out, I may end up re-styling the front part of the wig to give it more volume, other then that, I am quite happy with it :)
I was thrilled to find out cosplayer Jukebox wanted to do a disney group at Fanex 11, and she asked if I would like to be Belle for her group. I was very happy to join in, considering I already had the gown made :)
