USO Girl
Captain America
Last Updated: 11-02-2011
I've always wanted to dress up as a USO girl...and if Lottie's any indication I love me some sparklies ;) When I saw these gals being promoted on Marvel.com, I just knew that I HAD to make one of these adorable costumes!~
**I received many lovely responses whilst wearing this costume, and I had soo much fun :) I'm retiring this costume, though, since I'm moving onto some new projects~!
To debut at Long Beach Comic Con this October!!~
[]Cap: I ordered a "scotty" buckram frame, which I plan on painting blue and covering with matching sequin fabric and lining with blue felt. It's not 100% perfect, but it's pretty darn close, and millinery skills are something I want to experiment with when I don't have a time crunch :) I plan on styling my own hair into victory rolls and soft curls~
[x]Halter: 100% complete-- blue casa satin with interfacing in the sparkle sequin lapels and fully lined with dark blue cotton. I went slightly inaccurate and got white sparkle sequin stars instead of embroidered, just for the "pizzazz" XD
[x]Skirt: 100% complete--Red poly satin and white poly satin pleated panels gathered into a circle skirt and attached to the bodice.
[x]Petticoat: red cotton fabric with white netting trimmed with red bias tape.
[]Belt: red glitter-time casa satin with heavy interfacing and hook and eye closures in the back.
[x]White gloves: Okay, I know I won't match the other girls in my group EXACTLY, but I went out antiquing and found a pair of 1940's white cotton elbow-length gloves..with pearl button closures! (and in perfect condition... for only $12 ^^)
[x]Shoes: I actually found the same pair from the movie, but I think my tan character shoes will work perfectly well~
[x]Nylons. I also plan on layering a pair of fishnets on top.
