I had ambitions to craft the entire suit by hand, before reality set in, however, I did manage to make the vest for the costume, as a test to see if I could do it.

In any case, I'm happy with the results, since the legendary mercenary doctor has become one of my new favorite characters. (And one I can identify with.) The costume is a primarily bought/found/modified item costume, with the wig crafted from a full wig and clip-on extension (Currently revising for version 1.5 in Jan. 2006), and the vest made from a stock pattern, modified to match Black Jack's vest design in some of the OAV episodes. The trenchcoat serves as the cloak, following the style of the early manga and OAV/movie. Makeup effects by yours truly.

Notes on makeup: The more I've done the makeup, the faster it takes me to get it done.

Notes on accessories: The necktie is slated to be replaced with a restyled/recolored version for 4th Quarter 2006/1st Quarter 2007 - Generating Version 1.75 of the costume.

Notes on wardrobe: Costume is about 99% accurate and functional, and the back of the vest is burgundy rather than black, following the design scheme for the latter episodes of the 10-episode OAV series and the first movie (Directed by Osamu Dezaki, character designs by Akio Sugino for OAV series and movie.) An all black version of the vest may be a future project, as well as acqusition/fabrication of a hat for the Black Jack 21 variant (Continuation of TV series)
