Dragon Age: Origins
Last Updated: 01-05-2012
Not sure why this says it's from Origins, I wrote in DA2. Oh well.
This was a commission for my friend who is doing Isabela. She is very busy, and I was mostly done with my costume, so I whipped this up for her in about 4 hours. Not perfect, but I think it's acceptable. Excuse the wifebeater I wore while modeling it and the shoddy picture from a camera phone
Here's a brief rundown of how I made it:
It was one of those projects where I just sort of winged it, with pretty good success! I will admit that it's not exactly a polished piece of work, but hey.
The "snake"/main part around the neck: Sculpy. Oh god, so much sculpy And a bit of wire inside to give it a base. But mostly scuply. The eyes on the snake are just little beads I thought were pretty. I then spray painted it gold.
The part with the flat pendants are some of those flat necklace pieces from Joann's. I just sort of looked around and found which ones I thought looked nice, and then spray painted them gold as well. To get them to stick together is the sort of...heh, "don't look at the back" part. I basically took wire I had left over and attached it to the pieces with superglue, and then put sculpy over it to sort of "cement" them. Then more superglue. Yeah, it's not pretty, but if you don't look at the back it's ok! Then it's just worn around the neck as a separate piece on a chain/piece of gold string/whatever you like
If you check my Merrill costume, some of them are with Isabela so you can see it in action.
