I want to thank Amy (nur_ein_tier) from alchemillahospital.com for her awesome help on this endeavor.
She graciously provided me with several fantastic mounted character models of Richard. Thanks to her I was able to get the details right and really become intimately familiar with this outfit since the model maps can only show so much about the render! You rock Amy ^^!!
This shirt was the shirt from hell. It is impossible to find men's shirts without one pocket on the front, and I can't make things like this to save my life, so I ended up using a women's 4x shirt that was seersucker. The seersucker actually worked really well because the character model has a pattern like that on this shirt. I dyed the Richard shirt the proper blue-ish gray and hand added all the stripes on myself. There should be 17 on each part of the front, 30 on the back bottom, 5 on each cuff, 5 on the collar and about 34 on each sleeve. Of course I decided to leave this until 2 days before Otakon (like a moron) so I don't have quite as many stripes on the shirt. I'm sad that I didn't have time to put on the accurate number of them!
I made/painted the tie over the course of several days. It took many hours to do because I had to make the tie stiff with paint to get it to really penetrate the polyester that I used for the tie. It was totally worth the hard work though, I think the tie really adds personality to his character.
Val bought the pants and I dyed them more brown. The butt pockets are slits, just like Richard's of course.
I made the belt from scratch fashioned the buckle out of painted craft foam.
I bought some dress shoes and painted the shoes/heels.
The ammo bag is also made entirely from scratch. It has an embroidery board skeleton and is covered with vinyl that has been sponged to appear more red than tan.
Val made his revolver prop and the speed loader for the ammo bag himself. I wish we'd gotten shots of it, we will have to revisit that on a future photoshoot! I styled his hair by slicking it back and adding some gray spray.
