The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Last Updated: 01-03-2012

This cosplay was made for and worn to my friend’s 21st birthday party- costume party all the way!!- though it was on my cosplay list before I even knew what cosplay was. The party theme was “nostalgia”, and I considered Ashe from Pokemon, but decided that my love for Malon has always and will always hold true.

Malon has always been one of my favorite characters; she and I were- and still area- very similar. (How can one think about an NPC? If you have to ask, you’ll never get it.) When I was little and first playing the game, I remember singing- okay, humming- Epona’s song whenever I went into a dark room, because it helped me feel braver! XD And you know what? At some point in life, nearly every girl is hoping that her knight in shining armor is coming for her... I’m just glad that I found mine.

Info on this is to come, though I must say that it’s pretty self-explanatory through the pictures alone.

Skirt: The pattern was taken from a renaissance skirt of mine. The base is 100” wide, while the top is closer to 35”. This made it problematic when it came to painting on the squares at the base. Oh, what a nightmare. They were stenciled by tape and patience, and painted on with fabric paint.

Shirt: I used a renaissance dress pattern. I belled the sleeves myself and used a stencil and fabric paint for the markings.

Scarf: A yard of fabric, doubled over and rounded on one edge.

Wig: Bought from a member and straightened.

Bowser: Made from model magic.

Belt: Fabric with a craft foam backing.

Buckle: Craft foam sealed with modge podge, painted black and then with silver.
