First time I watched Fushigi Yuugi, I totally fell in love with Hotohori! xD He totally cracks me up, and he's such a sweetie. ^^; My friend Xailnere was teasing me saying that I must have a thing for Emperor's. LOL! I SWEAR it's a coincidence!!! xD Seriously now.
So the reason why I started this cosplay was thanks to my cousin Dancing Otaku, she had choreographed a cosplay dance routine featuring Fushigi Yuugi, the WHOLE entire Suzaku Seven plus Miaka, and she asked me if I wanted to join in the dance competition as Hotohori!!! *___* I totally said yes! It's like a real dream come true!!! And we did end up winning the dance competition. ^^ It was an experience that I'll never forget, and I'm so happy to have done it with my friends. It was defiantly a big highlight for me. :) I was even crying from happiness after we preformed our dance live. (yeah yeah, i'm a big softie deep down, shut up.) xPP
As for the cosplay itself... My Hotohori costume is a little bit of a mix from the artwork and anime - but 'mostly' the artwork!~ xD I spend about $58 on him, which isn't too bad I guess since the new wig was over $40. The cosplay was really easy to make, and it only took like 3 days. most of it I got all done in one night. I had to paint on my own pattern though, along the black parts of the costume, since I couldn't find a fabric pattern anywhere like Hotohori's. that part took the longest. xD But I am really happy with it!
I hope I can cosplay Fushigi Yuugi again! ...I actually really liked that anime, it's one of my favorites... And when I tell people that who know me really really well, they are surprised lol. X'D
