Jill Valentine

Resident Evil

Last Updated: 08-27-2011

I have been planning to update my original S.T.A.R.S. Jill coslay for a while now to make it look more like the REmake/REbirth and Umbrella Chronicles versions. I decided that as I will be remaking/changing so many parts of the costume it needed its own page and my first attempt will be seen as from the original game.

"Jill Valentine is a member of S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team, Position RS (Rear Security). Before joining S.T.A.R.S., she was in the U.S. Army's Delta Force training program, where she earned extremely high grades in bomb disposal. She was brought into S.T.A.R.S. for her already well-developed fighting skills. Her exceptional skill in using mechanical devices from APCs to lockpicks make her an excellent team member.
Jill is an intelligent solider and she does all she can to make sure her comrades will be safe. She has strong moral convictions and fights for what she believes in. She is a talented young woman who is full of life but can be a bit too impulsive at times. Jill is usually fine under pressure.

On the night of July 23, 1998, the S.T.A.R.S. Bravo team was deployed to the Arklay Mountains located on the outskirts of Raccoon City after evidence of grisly, cannibalistic murders. Alpha team was sent to find out what happened to their comrades when communication with Bravo Team was lost only minutes later. Soon after their arrival, the team found the smoking, yet still intact remains of Bravo Team's helicopter, where they found the mauled remains of Bravo Team's pilot, Kevin Dooley. After witnessing the death of fellow Alpha Team member Joseph Frost, who was torn apart by a group of Cerberus, the team was abandoned by their helicopter pilot, Brad Vickers, and the remaining members fled to the nearby abandoned Spencer Estate..."

~Please see my journals on my Cosplay Island account (Leonie Heartilly) for more details on the construction of this costume as well as progress photos~

The combats were bought from an online shop that stocks gear for police and security staff.

The wig, boots, t-shirt, drop-leg holster, gloves, watch, beret and S.T.A.R.S. patches were bought from ebay.

The belt was bought from Poundland.

The holster had a strap removed to make it more accurate.

I modified some bondage cuffs to make the glove cuffs.

I removed the original watch strap and fitted it with a longer one.

The hip pouch was made by modifying a digital camera case and the strap was hand-made.

The shoulder pads were hand-made using foam covered with faux leather material. The harness was also hand-made. Silver buttons were used for detailing.

The t-shirt had seams sewn in, transfer letters were used for the S.T.A.R.S. lettering and fabric pen for "Special Tactics and Rescue Service". A black S.T.A.R.S. patch was added to the left sleeve.

My mum trimmed the ends of the wig for me and I styled the fringe a little.

I sewed a mini black S.T.A.R.S. patch onto the beret.

The Samurai Edge hand-gun was modified by Lycaneyes with some touch-ups by myself.

I first wore this costume to Ayacon 2011. I ended up having to finish little bits whilst there but got it done in time for the day I was due to wear it. I entered it into the masquerade and it seemed to get a pretty good response =) I am however still not happy with the shoulder pads, I can never seem to get them looking how I want and the collar left my neck feeling sore =( The t-shirt will prob need re-doing at some point also as my princess seams are slightly wonky and the transfer letters weren't staying on well...
I love that I have a replica S.T.A.R.S. badge though =D
