A Nightmare on Elm Street
Last Updated: 09-08-2011
I was going to do this costume last year, but due to personal matters, I was unable to complete it.
The hat is about the only thing that I didn't make. Although I did have to alter it a bit. It was red, and I covered it over in black cotton.
The knife gloves were crazy to make. I made the gloves a bit larger than my real hands and padded them with cotton batting. They are made out of pleather. I would have used leather, but I couldn't find the right colour. The knives are made out of wonderflex and spray-painted silver. They are secured to the gloves using my own special mix of glues - it does NOT come apart.
Believe it or not, but I actually sat and KNIT the shirt myself. It was a lengthy process, and I had never really knit anything before, so it was interesting to learn how to knit. I'm glad I learned. Thank you to my lovely victim (my wife) for teaching me :)
The pants are made of canvas and have tiny rips to make it seem as though I caused myself some damage from miraculously missing my victim.
Believe it or not, but for my face, I had to construct my own custom mask so that I wouldn't have to sit for hours on end while my wife applied latex, silicone, makeup, and paint to my face. So I made a custom mask out of latex and silicone that I painted using flesh tones and then mixing in redder tones to create the correct look.
On my neck, normal makeup and body paints that have been watered down will be used.
