Used the template/tutorial from Frederator's Adventure Time website. The hat was made out of white fleece and pillow stuffing for the ears. Used floral wire to make the ears stay in place.
Had a similar shirt that I bought from Smart Set.
An old golf skirt that my mom gave me. I dyed it a darker shade of blue to match the character model. (It's also a skort - a skirt with shorts built into it!)
Bought at Ardene. ($6)
Already owned a pair of flats. I just sewed elastics to make it look like Mary Janes.
-RUBY SWORD -
Used a foam pirate sword from the dollar store as a base and hotglued foamboard on top. I covered up the handle with Model Magic. Painted with acrylics (DecoArt in Posey Pink) and sealed it with a finishing gloss for that smooth crystal look.
I originally wanted to make it as a functional backpack (though I still might in the future), but went on an easier approach to make more similar to the cartoon and made more like a cushion. Really comfy when leaning against something when sitting down and taking a breather!
Still to do...
-CAKE THE CAT - Have fabric and stuffing. Still need dye.
TOTAL (so far): $20
Won $50 in College's Halloween Costume Contest (2012)
