Okay, I'm officially in love with this series :3
Since this is such a heavily stylized cartoon, I'm taking some creative licenses on this costume. So, I'm aiming to get it purdy darn close and recognizable, but with some of my own touches here and there. This was also my bargain-tastic costume--I found all of the fabric for at LEAST 60% off, and the glitter casa satin was only $2/yard... woohoo!
EDIT: 8/29/12: While I love PB, now that I've learned new sewing techniques, I want to completely re-make the skirt with the proper scallops if a re-wear were to commence...soooo retired until I need her and I can fix things up :)
Cardigan: 90% complete--Fuschia poly-satin fully lined with an adorable sparkle cotton printed with cherries, cupcakes and flowers. Trimmed with white fleece "lace" in order to imitate frosting, and I further decorated with hand-stitched sequin and seed bead flowers :)
[x]Blouse: I ended up using periwinkle sparkle casa satin that I found during a 1/2 off red tag sale at Joann's--$2/yard *score!*. The collar has fleece frosting "lace," and I created the bodice with princess seams with sequin and seed bead flowers matching the trim on the cardigan.
Skirt: I'm almost done with this ruffly skirt of doom. Ended up with the same color scheme of 3 ruffles, but I also added a top 4th ruffle made of white organza with rhinestones to emphasize the idea of a floofy cupcake ~ :D I debuted her with my Briar Rose petticoat, but I need MOAR poofiness, so I adjusted the skirt with more panels and will re-wear this costume with a super-duper extra full square-dancing petticoat.
[x]Wig: I ordered a hot pink jaguar and a matching curly clip ponytail from arda and plan on styling the ponytail into a pretty bun ;3
[x]Crown: craft foam sealed with modge podge, gold rub 'n buff and a final coat of gloss varnish. I used 1/2" craft foam for a stabilizer, and created some patterns on the crown with puffy paint and added some gems throughout in addition to the large "sapphire" at the tip of the crown.
[x]Satchel: Went brighter with the color scheme again and made it with a golden yellow fleece to imitate the cartoony look I'm aiming for. It's more decorative than functional, but it's adorable with the hand-stitched daisy seed bead and sequin pattern ;) Still have no clue what the pink thing is in her pocket, though o.0
[x]Shoes: white ballet flats are pictured, but I plan on using my tan character shoes instead, and making white bow anklets.
