I designed this myself. I changed the design probably 20 times until I got to this. The only thing that stayed the same was probably the base skirt.
The wig is a Cosworx Clover L in Violet.
The only thing I didn't make myself was the flowery thing I used to put the veil on. That was made by an old dance teacher a few years ago.
I used (and altered significantly) two Simplicity patterns. The base skirt used 2400 (I just cut it at the waistline) and the corset used 2355, but I flipped it so that it laced up in the back, and added the point. I also added a panel because for some reason it ended up a little small.
So the whole thing, fabric-wise, is a combination of chiffon, organza, and (purple) satin (which is why my wig is purple).
I sewed every single sequin on by hand, and took maybe 50 hours to do so. The corset uses invisible thread, and the skirt uses regular matching blue thread just so the skirt flows nicely since invisible thread is more rigid and plasticy (probably because it IS some sort of plastic). I don't want to estimate how many sequins I sewed on.
There are 18 different sequins, varying in color, size, iridescence...
Oh and I used some pinkish lame for the wings. They're attached to my corset.
Overall though, I'm really proud of how much patience I had for the sequins, and how the whole thing came out. The only thing I don't like is that pair of wings....and the fact that I didn't cut the bangs on my wig.
Comments/critiques are always welcome, though!
So I have a week before I'm gonna have a mini shoot just with a background with my dad. By then I'm going to try to have fixed and changed everything I wanted to. Right now, I have to:
-style the wig
-change the sleeves into actual sleeves
-add a layer of chiffon to the under side of the skirt
-fix sequins on top left side of bodice and add sequins to sleeves
-make a mini skirt to wear under all the chiffon
-spraypaint flowers silver
-make new wings
But now, I have a completely different concept.....and blue pointe shoes!
Yeah, I'll wear shoes this time. And try to have my contacts in....and do my makeup nicely...
I think I'm done with this. I doubt I'll wear it again. I love it to death and it's been the most successful costume and I'm the most proud of this one, but I don't really have an excuse to do anything with it. It was fun.
