Poison Ivy

I know Poison Ivy is over done but I had to be her! She's so sexy and there are a lot of opportunities for interpretations with her costume. I did a burlesque interpretation- therefore I added some classic showgirl attributes to this kickass villainess.

Corset- I bought an inexpensive corset pleather corset from Charlotte Russe which I glued leaves to over an actual fancy corset I didn't have the heart to destroy. Therefore I had the desired curves without ruining the expensive corset. Note, do not use hot glue on fake leather, this may be obvious to most of you, but I was dumb and didn't think about it and the leaves popped off one by one and I had to re-glue every single one back on using a better craft glue.

Leaves- I went to goodwill and bought a bunch of silk plants and cut the leaves off of them for my costume, I bought $15 dollars worth and had enough leaves to make 3 poison ivy costumes. It's cheaper than going to a craft store and buying silk plants from there.

Bottom- Below the corset I just wore a plain black bathing suit bottom, it made it look like a one piece but much more practical!

Train- I bought some halloween fabric on sale that had a little bit of sparkle on it that looked like dew drops, it had a bit of flashy show girl to it but still had the organic plant life quality to it. Then I sewed it straight onto the top corset and created a cute little bustle in the back with another piece. The back of the costume is important too!

Boots- I bought for $35 at Goodwill and used for my Astrid costume as well. (so I guess if you split the cost between the two costumes it was like $17ish?)

Gloves- Bought at a halloween store after halloween

Wig- I splurged on this wig as it was $60 but it was well worth it- it looks so long and red and seductive. If I hadn't have waited till the last minute I could have found another one cheaper, but I waited till 2 weeks before the con, so that's what I get.

All in all I spent just a tad over $100 on the costume. A little more than I usually do, but it came together wonderfully.

I need to get professional photos taken of this one...
