Okay, so at first I was going to go as Ester in her nun outfit, but then I thought about it and the monocle and hat won me over to Caterinas side! I'm deathly afraid of making her hair...if only the place I foudn to commission it wasn't over $300! But I shall do it! or die trying...or dye tieing ;)

I would loooooove to make this out of red velvet(I'm a stickler that costumes should be made from appropriate materials for the time/place) but at ~$18/yd I cannot ::sigh:: But I have thought out how to make everything including the insane details on the skirt. I am going to purloin the shoes from my Lacas outfit since they both wear white boots, and use a bunch of my SCA underskirts to give hers poof. If/when I get this done I'll be uber proud!

So I completely changed my mind a week ago(thankfully before buying any fabric or making patterns) that I'm going to do the anime verion, not the manga. The main reason is that I love the hat in the anime version more than the manga(yep, that and the monocle are what are deciding this outfit ::snort:: ) However, I would still love to use velvet, but I've decided to give the costume my own little twist. I found the MOST georgous red eyelet fabric and plan to make her blouse out of it. Now, before you get all scandalized I plan on having the white bodice over it, so nothin' will be showing, it'll just be a luxurious texture effect. I also found a remnent of a matching red silk(drool) that I'll use for some of the detailing. Thus far however I've only made the underskirt, lol, with lots and lots of white lace on the hem! Hopefully I'll have more done soon.
