Briar Rose

Sleeping Beauty

Last Updated: 08-08-2012

Sleeping Beauty is my absolute favorite Disney Princess, and since I wasn't 100% happy with my first rendition of Briar Rose, I've decided to re-make a few things--

[x]Bodice: I re-worked my old bodice and plan on attaching the new skirt once I'm done.

[x]Dickey: I'm re-using my old dickey from ver. 1 of Rose :)

[x]Shawl: I received a very pretty purple paisley shawl as a present, and I plan on using it~

[x]Petticoat: ordered a tea-length semi-full petticoat, and *wah* is it perfectly fluffy and wonderful for spinning. I could even pull it up a few inches and it would be spot-on for Alice's petticoat at the Parks :)

[x]Skirt: I sewed an extra-full circle skirt which I box pleated onto the bodice. I actually found some gorgeous grey moleskin fabric marked down to 2.50 a yard and bought 4.5 yards, woohoo!

[x]Corset--100% complete. I ended up using black silk velvet for the front panels, and a black embroidered brocade for the back panels. Fully interfaced and boned, with duck-cloth lining. I also hand-stitched the black velveteen ribbon trim along the bottom and "V" portion at top.

[x]Wig: I went through quite a few wigs for my old Briar Rose, and I finally found the perfect wig in a dark ash blonde Claudia from Arda :)
