When I started reading Homestuck I was initially put off by the crazy girl with the horrible typing habits. Since I disliked her typing quirk, I thought I would end up getting too frustrated to ever enjoy her character. Instead, Terezi ended up being my favorite troll by far. Her sense of JUST1C3 and goofy yet sharp attitude made me fall in love. And as a libra myself, I think it's because I can relate to her in a lot of ways.
I used the freezer paper transfer method to create her shirt, purchased the pants, and heavily altered an old pair of Vans for her shoes (covered in fabric paint and painted fake white grommets on for the small lace holes.) Her horns were made with model magic, painted with acrylics, and sealed with mod podge.
I used an Inigo from Arda as the base for her crazy hairstyle. The flip was done with beer cans and a hair dryer (I'm a classy lady) and thanks to the wig being thick I could create her trademark "whoosh" on top.
The glasses took me the most time. I ended up buying two pairs; one to "harvest" for their lenses, the other to use for the frameless parts (the temples, the screws, the bridge piece.) I drew and sanded down the lenses to the shape I wanted, then had my Dad help me drill holes for the bridge and temples. Before assembling everything, I used black enamel to paint the temples and bridge, and red enamel for the little screws that would be on the lenses.
And finally, since I didn't feel fully comfortable carrying around a white cane, I wanted to make a plush prop instead. My Senator Lemonsnout was sewn using a lovely free pattern available here (http://www.metroidhat.com/mother/scalemate.html)
Thank you to Devious Tofu, Cat W1ngs, Lexxandra, and Octane Blue for being the best troll group I could ask for. And a huge thanks to Elemental for cheerfully photographing our craziness. You guys are the best. :)
