So I have decided, my first cosplay costume will be Bayonetta. I am a huge fan of the game and after making one of Bayonetta's Scarborough Fair guns for a bit of fun, I decided to take on the challenge of researching and constructing her whole outfit. So far it has been alot of fun, and i plan on wearing the costume to this years Adelaide AVCON anime and gaming convention. This will be the first time i have attended AVCON aswell, so I am really looking forward to it!
I knew this costume would be a bit of a challenge, and it has turned out to be a huge amount of work! Enjoying every bit of it though, every time i finish another small detail it just starts to come together more and more!
There are alot of different pieces to the costume, and here is my list so far :
♥COSTUME--- Chains, Hair on suit, Pendants, Zipper, Demonic writing, Rose painted on suit, Gloves, Buckles on sleeves, hair on sleeves, Left eye.
My initial decision for the overall costume was to buy a leotard and leggins and construct the costume using that as my base. However while searching on the internet for the best base for my costume, I found a catsuit which was perfect. It is made from spandex with a lace design down either side. After i purchased this I began to make modifications to it to match Bayonettas. I have slightly changed a few things for the catsuit, but for the better. Because the lace shows right through, I decided to sew black material on the inside so you can still see the design. I also had to make the sleeves shorter and change the back of it.
♥GUNS--- Paint, charms, chain, Crystals
The guns I made using cardboard and pages from an old calendar. I used hot glue and craft glue to put them together.
One of the most time consuming parts of the guns is painting them. Getting the paintjob as close to the original is difficult and once you get it right you get to go do the next one the same! I also used a little bit of gold nail polish to finish off parts of the design to make them look extra sparkly!
♥ACCESSORIES---Earrings, Glasses, Shoes, Left eye
Earrings I made using Modelling clay.
I bought a basic pair of fake glasses and added my design creating the wings out of thin plastic and painting them using nail polish (good old nail polish!)
I ended up using a pair of my witch boots then attatching the guns to them using heavy duty tape.
The left eye i created with an old compact mirror. I painted it, then added chain, Crystals and Writing.
I then used thick double sided tape to attatch the Mirror to my chest
♥HAIR AND MAKEUP--- Wig, Ribbon, Chains, fake eyelashes
I purchased the wig online, Hand painted 5metres of red ribbon using acrylic paints with the Demonic Writing, I then added the ribbon and chains to the hair.
The make up was fairly straight forward, on the day I also used thick Purple/pink Glitter on my eyes which made it look even more realistic.
So thats it, my costume is completed, after 6 months of hard work, it is finally completed and I had a whole lot of fun Wearing it, I couldnt take 5 steps without my photo being taken all day!
The most awkward thing about the costume was not being able to sit down due to the MASSIVE wedgie and fear the outfit would give way! haha And the shoes were killing me by the end of the day! But Beauty is painful!
Now to work on my next cosplay... Alice from RESIDENT EVIL Apocalypse movie for the ADELAIDE ZOMBIE WALK! ROCK N ROLL!
