Description

So, after going to Ohayocon 6, Heki-chan, Amy_the_Yu, and I decided quite randomly to go to Katsucon 12 the next month. Heki already had a DoA costume, but Eurobeat King wanted her to make a new one, so she dragged Amy into making a Lei Fang costume ... and i felt left out. So I looked around and finally found a costume that interested me, then I found out it was a male named Elliot. So Heki talked me into making Christie.

Pants were found at a Salvation Army, but were 3 sizes too big, so I took apart all the seams (almost all of them anyway) fitted them, and then resewed the whole thing. Let's just say, after working on FishEye I must have forgotten how much I hated working with pvc, pleather, and all that other wonderful synthetic material that drives me insane. The jacket I was altering to go over this had to be raised 3" on the bottom, and that whole experience in itself made me want to throw it across the room. Aparently I have the inability to make flat seams on pleather.

The bra top thing was made mostly from scratch, after taking apart a tank top and freehanding a pattern onto it to get the right shape. Looks kind of funny in pictures.

The flames on the pants were ment to be airbrushed, but, because I'm a lazy procrastinator, I ran out of time to do it before the convention. Instead it ended up being done only hours before the DoA photoshhot at Katsu (making poor EBK wait for us for almost an hour). For most of the time I was painting it it looked really bad, so I'm suprised at how clean and bright it looks in photos. Unfortunatley the flames are a little too high on the pants, and its only acrylic paint, so its starting to peal off already. I'll have to completely redo it for the next convention I wear it to.

The wig right now is just a temp one until the one i originally ordered comes in. Much love to Heki for styling it for me, as well as helping me with the painting of the flames, and to Amy for drawing the outline of the flames for me, because I fail.

Things left to do:
Reverse knee pads
Redo the flames
Redo shirt
Paint shirt
New necklace
Coat
Rehem pants (perhaps)
