I have to say, Mami is probably one of the most deceptive character designs I have ever made. I thought to myself, "Yeah, I can finish this in a few days after Ohayocon..." Then two weeks later, after furious sewing, wig styling, and shoe altering I thought, "WHY IS THIS TAKING SO LONG WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME!" That being said, I am very happy that I spent the extra time on her and I'm very proud of how she came out.

For the boots, I purchased some ugly as sin tan ankle boots. I cut off the tops where I needed the black to start and made the pattern for the black part from that. I mixed up some paints I already had lying around (gold, white, orange, white, brown...) to get the Simba color for lower part of the shoes and alternated hand painting and airbrushing the color onto them until I was happy with it. I hand-painted the heels white, and using vinyl and soutache I did the black and white part of the upper boot. I made the matching Simba-colored tabs out of some leather scraps I had lying around and hand-sewed them into the top of the cuffs. I added some black gimp to the seam between the black tops and the Simba bottoms because I thought it would be a nice finishing touch.

The skirt is a circle skirt, fully lined, with hand-finished bias tape and an invisible zipper closure in the back. The skirt is made from suede, lined in cotton, with hand-made suede bias tape.

The shirt I patterned from scratch and darted in the front for added accentuation on the boobage. I hand-gathered the puffy sleeves so they'd be all cute and fluffy and added the buttons onto the layered cuffs. The shirt closes via side invisible zipper. The shirt and back bow are made of weaver's cloth.

The cincher I fashioned from the pattern I made for my underbust inner-corset for Griselda. I switched the closures to the front, and used a busk since I'd never done a busk before and wanted to try something different, plus thought a busk would look good with the little belts on the front, which I made from leather scraps, floral wire, and a few tiny belt buckles. The cincher is fully boned with half-inch spiral steel boning and matching suede embellishments in the front and back, and some gimp for the white parts. It is fully lined in cotton, hand finished across the top.

The arm warmers I won't go into much detail since they are just little interlock cotton tubes I gathered into the cuffs with some elastic.

The hat was self-patterned and made from a black suiting. The feather fluffy thing was made with a foamy as the base, and some marabou wrapped around it. Her soul gem was cast from resin from a self-made silicon mold, some gold trim and rhinestones added, and then a wire flowery thing added. Her other hair clip was made with an extra flower I cast, then painted.

Details on the wig will be added later.

The gloves and socks were purchased and worn as-is. I hope I'll have time to make more accurate socks for next time.
