Gradriel

Princess Crown

Last Updated: 04-26-2013

Each cosplayer has a little "to-do-when-have-time" list - so do I and Gradriel was always on the top of it. :) The Princess Crown oldschool game itself is made by my favourite developer, Vanillaware, also is a root game for Odin Sphere wich i totally adore.
Must.Do.Costume!

I decided to prepare costume for AnimeShow 2012 at Slovakia where we went with my friends - it was exciting trip, i had alot of fun at foregin convetion.
Where to begin! The biggest challange for me was definietly the skirt. The shape i had to achive was so gravity defying! In the end i built custom hoopshirt with wire and tons of tulle. Then i made purple part out of circle, with special thick material inside and some really thin plexi in the ends of each "petal." Yellow part was quite similar in construction to the first one. Then i sew everything together, added decorative stich at the ends of yellow skirt.
Also, in this costume i made my first bloomers, it was crazy at the start - pants looking like circus tent scared me.
Armor was made of EVA foam and some resin. I really like myspiky gloves and hoof-like shoes (even if they are sooo uncomfortable)! I also customly made the resin blue gemstone at the chest. Earrings are made of acrylic balls, foam and some love.
Sword! In this costume i had to think about how to pack it in the car so making sword was quitew tricky. In the end i made it out of eva foram with some achitectural cardboard, filled with expanding foam. The hand was made out of old broom - i managed to make it attachable by twisting handling into sword base with hidden broom part :) The result was lightweight sword which i could make shorter anytime for transport.
Queens cloak was my free imagination creation - its made of purple velvet, some hand painted fur and green resin gemstones.
In the end wig. Thanks to my great friends we managed to braid it up and cut bangs in a way that would show my real hair the least - it was a challenge since the braids were so revealing whole mess underneath!

I'm very happy with my Gradriel costume, i had alot of fun and met great people in Slovakia. Also we had fast photoshoot in Bratislava's old town, it was great expierence and location for this cosplay. So much love for Princess Crown and my great friends who helped me make this, saldy forgotten by cosplayers character, come to live!
