This is a costume I made out basically to improve my skills for future sailor costumes.
I choosed Sailor Mars for various coincidences: I had red fabric excedents from Kodachi Obi, my friend accepted to lend me her black wig, I had already the right shoes and I discovered that Rei is a tsunderish ambitious character that could suit me as well as the tomboysh and strong Jupiter that I used to love when I was a child (In fact my first ever cosplay was a Sailor Jupiter debuted about 3 years ago but i was not satisfied at all, so in order to make a perfect Jupiter costume in the future I found the chance to make another try before).
The sewing sessions were simple and didn’t take much time: I used a basic white stretch t-shirt with long sleeves, cut the sleeves to make those strange pluffy things on the shoulder, made the bow out of purple cotton, found a gigantic red button, struggled myself to make pleats that stand on alone (the rigid kind of fabric I used was very helpful for that purpouse), coloured the earrings and so on with all the little details you have to take care when you happen to make a sailor costume.
I wanted to debut this cosplay last summer but I had not the chance so I ended up posing for Kikucch during last weekend and it was awesome :D
