Jane Porter

Tarzan (Disney)

Last Updated: 10-28-2012

Planning to do this at this year's AnimagiC in Bonn! :D Also would like to wear this at the Expo in October! <3

She's my second favourite Disney Princess (well not really princess, but you know what I mean XD) right after Belle! <

///Making Process///
I'm trying to describe a little about what I made in what way :) My native language is not English, so excuse me if I make mistakes or sound strange XD

> Hat: It took me ages to find a nice hat, since most of them are way too big. When I bought this one it was GREEN XD And I basically painted it brown (though it's a bit to dark :/) and added the ribbon.

> Wig: This was actually the easiest part :) All I did was cut of a bit at the front to have the side parts and the middle parts and then make a bun xD

> Shoes: Here I used brown boots that I still had ad home and modified them to be a bit "tigther" around my ankles. Then I used grey cotton fabric to make the gaiters and glues them to the boots so they wouldn't shift out of place.

> I borrowed the bloomers of a friend and the gloves & tights were bought. ;)

> DRESS: Now that's the biggest part, which was much more of a challenge than I thought. I started with a seperate top, whcih was easy enough with the puffy sleeves and all. Only challenge here was the collar, since it goes up her neck and still makes that strange shape down her shoulders and chest. It's made out of one part which made it quite a challenge. My collare doesn't go up my neck as far as the original, but I kinded copied it from Disneyland Jane, where it looks the same. ;) The tie was the easiest part ;D
Next I worked on the skirt layer that's beneath the other two parts. I thought a LOT about how to make her skirt, since it has elements of a bustle, but is not a typical bustle dress, since it's wider at the bottom and only goes down to the ankles.
So what I did - I seewed kind of an "half moon shaped" cushon, which I tied around my back to my waist. The I draped an old hoop skirt over it and made it wider at the bottom. So I got the bustle effect and a hoop skirt effect as well. The I made a normal yellow skirt out of one part, that was wider at the back to fit over that construction XD I shorted the skirt and then sewed the white seam parts before sewing them onto the skirt. Oh god. Those white thingies took me an ETERNITY to make, since you can't buy anything in that shape.
After that I sewed a very wide yellow square and gathered the fabric at the back of my dress to have that front part of the skirt.
Then I made the round back part thats covering the back part of the skirt out of two parts in two different yellows. and sewed it onto the dress as well.
All that was left to do then was the Belt which I made out of cord fabric and foam sheeting. XD

> Umbrella: I bought a brown Umbrella whichs handle had about the right shape and colour and removed the fabric. Then I used the pattern of that fabric to sew my own Umbrella cover, sewed another massive amout of those white thingies and added them to the fabric. Then I put the Umbrella covering onto the Umbrella again XD
///Making Process END///

So AnimagiC was quite nice! I wore Tinkerbell and Black Widow again, along with my new Cosplay Jane from Tarzan!

This cosplay was a little cursed though XD finding the materials was hard and the first wig I got was waaay too dark.
I worked on my umbrella until two in the morning before the convention and then LEFT IT AT HOME.
Then it was very very rainy and when we finally started to take pictures, TARZAN actually BROKE HIS WRIST right after this picture in the tree here, when he got off the tree. >_<
it was quite a shock and we spend the rest of the afternoon in the hospital! :'D

Interesting day, I'd say ! XD

So I hardly have any pictures, but thinking of what happened, it hardly matters at all.
We'll wear it again and then take more pictures. :>

Anyway, apart from that I had a great time with my Tarzan and I hope to cosplay again with him, too!

I also really love this cosplay, because I like how it turned out and I just LOVE Tarzan and Jane in the Disney movie! <3

I'm definitely gonna wear this at the next MCM Expo if I can go :D

/// UPDATE ///

I couldn't make it to the October Expo, but I'll try my best to wear it at the May Expo :)

I wore the cosplay again at Connichi in September though! I was on my own that time, but I still had a great day x)
This time I brought the hat and the umbrella along :D
