Doing Shanghai Disco Gakuko has always been a dream of mine~ I've had the picture saved to my hard drive for quite a while now (and a good thing too - they took down the PV!) and I finally got off my butt and started doing it! The only problem I faced was that the picture only showed her top half - in other words, I'm pretty much winging everything from the waist down - but I am basing it heavily off a model made my SerenityWong on DeviantArt.
The top is Butterick's B5492, the bodice pattern. Edited slightly to have a sweetheart neckline to go with the hanfu look that Gakuko has. A collar-y sort of thing will be added to it, to further the hanfu look. It's almost done - I just need to add the boning to the lining and then the collar thing to the exterior.
The sash, I plan on getting a tsuke obi and just wearing it without the bow. I'd get a normal yellow obi and just do it with a bow, but I'm doing something Chinese, not Japanese, and the hanfu sash doesn't have a bunko bow, I believe. The sleeves will be hanfu style (very rounded) with a white exterior and a pink lining.
I'll be editing a skirt I have to wear with this. It's black, but I bought some cobalt organza to layer over it to give it a more navy look. I'll also be adding an extra elastic band onto the skirt, so that it'll sit high on my waist and I won't have to worry about it slipping from under my bodice. To finish it off, I have an awesome pair of stockings from Leg Avenue that I'll be wearing with some black wedges I have.
I'm also planning to get Arda's Jeannie in Dark Purple for the wig.
