The Ice Queen

Adventure Time

Last Updated: 08-06-2013

I've been dying to make another large poofy dress after I've improved so much from what I learned making Lottie and Drizella, and I've had the Ice Queen on the "back-burner" from when I first saw the character designs, before the episode was even released! :) I also LOVE playing crazy villains, and when I had a ton of sparkly satin left from PB, I wanted a new Adventure Time costume for Halloween/Wonder Con next Spring, and Joann's was having a 1/2 off satin sale....it was meant to be :3

UPDATES (6/5/13): While I LOVE this costume to bits, I want to add a few improvements.

[x]Extra wig for stacking fullness :)

[]Attach snaps on the bustle to prevent it from moving around.

-----------------------------------

[x]Bodice: Made with royal blue and periwinkle blue casa satin, this is the Frankenstein'd bodice of doom. I modified and combined 3 different patterns o.0

[x]Sleeves: Matching satin from the bodice, each sleeve puff is stuffed with tulle netting for extra poofiness. Each scallop was done by hand, and then the bell sleeves are fully lined with a shiny poly satin.

[x]Bustle: Pale blue casa satin layered with matching organza overlay and layered on top of matching royal blue casa satin. It attaches separately from the bodice via a large hook and eye.

[x]Scalloped Skirts: Over 14 yards of pale blue casa satin and lining went into this sucker 0.o

[x]Underskirts: in order to cut down on the weight a smidge, I made the underskirts out of a light weight cotton sateen that will be hidden underneath the scalloped skirts. I then made 14 yards of 12" matching navy blue satin trim and gathered it along the bottom. Eee! It looks like the bottom of Belle's gown :3

[x]Bought a brand new hoop skirt and petticoat.

[x]Crown and Necklace: made with treated craft foam, gold foil, and glass gems. I even created raised designs and "iced" them via stippling and a ton of glitter.

[x]Wig

[x]Eyebrows: made with treated glittery craft foam.

[x]Makeup: A combination of Ben Nye's Calypso Blue, Graftobian's Blithe Spirit, and Graftobian's Bleached Bone with extra powdered shading and highlights. Graftobian's blue lipstick was used. I also plan on creating a frosted effect via white stippling, glitter, fake snow, rock salt, and large grained sugar crystals.

[x]Gunter: I made a matching Gunter plush :D
