Casual/Plain clothes version
Hakuōki: Shinsengumi Kitan

Here's a reference of this version:
Ah, the idea to cosplay this version of Saitō was pretty sudden. I wanted to cosplay someone from Hakuōki to Oulun Animeseminaari (Oulu's anime seminar) because when one of my newer northern Finnish con friends revealed that she will be doing Chizuru I went ahdksjfhjk. I wasn't expecting anyone to cosplay Hakuōki because the event in question is small.. or at least that's the impression I've gotten.
Soooo, I did a run-down in my mind of all the Hakuōki characters I could do at the moment and I soon only had Kondō and Saitō to choose between.. Hijikata and sick!Okita got ruled out because I want to remake Okita's kimono and Hijikata needs a new wig. So yeah, Kondō doesn't really fit with Chizuru so Saitō was chosen. But. I have a love-hate relationship with the scarf I use for my default/wafuku/kimono/shinsengumi/whatever Saitō and besides I've cosplayed that version of him quite a lot at the last cons I've been to this summer. Needless to say I wanted to cosplay Saitō but I wanted a different version.
Late at night before going to sleep I got enlightened; I remembered these other versions of most of the Hakuōki guys and then I remembered how Saitō had a black kimono and dark brown hakama. Yes, I had everything I needed for it!
The black kimono is a vintage piece (same one I've used for "normal" version Saitō) and so are the dark brown hakama. I do kimono kitsuke as one of my other hobbies so I will gladly multi-use wafuku for cosplay whenever possible ~
I have cosplayed Hajime Saitō at:
2012 • Oulun Animeseminaari in Oulu, Finland.
2013 • Animecon in Kuopio, Finland.
