The Kuroshitsuji manga is one of my favorite series. The anime is bullcrap and can suck it.
Anyway, I have a lot of mixed feelings on this costume. It came out....okay. Many of the technicalities are good I guess, but there are a lot of fit problems. I want to remake everything except the pants, and I need to redo the waist closures on the pants. I had to rush on the jacket and it's sloppy by my standards. The costume's also technically not even done - I didn't have time to decorate the hat properly or make gloves, but whatever. We got Best in Show, SO HEY.
I learned a lot making it. Some things worked, some things didn't. It was extremely frustrating doing the tailoring and for the first time in a long time I tried using commercial patterns again. At least I finally discovered that I have a swayback and how the hell to fix it. Now I won't be cursed anymore by a shirt bagging problem that takes 3 months to fix.
The shirt was self-drafted, and the pants, vest, and jacket were all based on Burda patterns and went through a fuckton of alterations. I can't raise my arms in that jacket and the vest is practically a corset for how tight it is. (Shit, maybe I should have made the vest a real corset. It would've been period. The moar you know.)
And I have no need of shoulder pads. My shoulders are square enough as it is, anything more would've made me look like Frankenstein.
